Celebrating 28 Years of Sticky Fingers
In May 1989 Bill Wyman opened his Sticky Fingers restaurant on Phillimore Gardens, off London’s iconic High Street Kensington. The restaurant contained a truly unique range of over 100 items from the Bill Wyman Archive and the collection filled the walls and bar area and included key pieces and vintage items spanning Bill’s career.
A selection of Bill’s guitars is also on display, including the legendary Bill Wyman homemade fretless Bass guitar. Constructed by Bill in 1961, he used it at his very first meeting with the Rolling Stones and it was his constant companion during early Stones appearances in the London jazz clubs and later in countless studio sessions and TV shows. Also featured; are Bill’s Framus Bass guitar from 1963 and a 1978 Travis Bean Bass guitar, custom made and inscribed ‘For Bill Wyman’ which Bill used on ’Emotional Rescue’.
There are 4 more guitars exhibited; a Fender Telecaster which Bill used at his home recordings in France from 1973-1981 and with which he wrote the worldwide solo hit “(Si Si) Je Suis un Rock Star”.
